Successful Installation of the New Gearbox Test Stand

From February 21 to March 31, specialists of ZF Luftfahrttechnik (ZFL) carried out the 2nd stage of test equipment installation on the new UWCA gearbox test stand.

The test stand designed for testing VR-8, VR-14, and VR-24 main gear boxes will be operating on the basis of electric motors and not aircraft engines which will allow, firstly, reducing operating costs, and secondly, to reduce the negative impact as the use of the electric power absolutely eliminates the possibility of burnt kerosene emission. Another advantage of the new test stand is the reduction of labor and material costs on test equipment maintenance and reduction of the period of time for the maintenance, accordingly.

First testing of gear boxes at the new test stand is scheduled for the 2nd half of 2017.
